About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with its Superintendent in improving student achievement. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. Successful educators in the district are passionately committed to urban education, believe all students can learn at high levels, and are willing to put students' interests above all others. This position is for a JV Volleyball Assistant Coach for the Fall 2026 season, contributing to the district's extensive athletic program which offers 120 different teams for students in grades 7-12. The coaching staff is composed of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes and emphasize discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work. The modified program (grades 7-8) focuses on skill development and participation, while high school teams (freshman, JV, Varsity) strive for success, emphasizing academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Requirements

New York State Coaching Certification
Valid First Aid course
Valid Adult CPR certification
Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
Fingerprint Clearance

Responsibilities

Assist in coaching student athletes in volleyball.
