About The Position

The Brearley School is seeking a Part-time Varsity Tennis Coach to join their team. This role reports to the Director of Athletics. The fall season runs from August 20th to November 2nd, with practices and games on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The team will travel off-campus for all practices and games.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years of relevant coaching experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills to communicate effectively with student-athletes and parents.
  • Enthusiasm for the role of athletics in an independent school setting, vision and creativity, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted.
  • Must complete a criminal background check with fingerprint clearance.
  • Must complete the Center for Disease Control’s HEADS up concussion awareness training.
  • Must complete AED/CPR certification training prior to the start of the season.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous high school playing and college playing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of competency in sports skill instruction, motivation, and conduct of practice sessions.
  • Demonstrate a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic, moral-ethical, and athletic development of student-athletes, prioritizing their health, safety, and welfare.
  • Support the mission of the school and the Athletics Department while positively and effectively leading the student-athletes and managers.
  • Exhibit leadership, professional behavior, and communication in dealings with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Complete and/or assist with all administrative coaching duties including roster management, game-day operations, score reporting, student-managers, professional development, distribution and collection of uniforms, attendance, participation in school and athletic department special events, and daily awareness of practice/game travel logistics.
  • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to AAIS, NYSAIS, School, Division, and Department of Athletics rules and regulations.
