Varsity Ice Hockey Assistant Coach - District Wide (Fall 2026)
About The Position
The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with them in achieving their goals of improving student achievement. The district represents 35 schools and programs, serving approximately 19,000 students. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that consists of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program for grades 7-8 focuses on skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work. The high school teams (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) strive for success, emphasizing academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course
- Valid Adult CPR certification
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check

Responsibilities
- Assist in coaching the Varsity Ice Hockey team.
- Work with student athletes in grades 7-12.
- Focus on skill development, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work.
- Stress the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Benefits
