About The Position

Rancho Buena Vista High School is seeking an interim Varsity Head Coach for competitive and sideline cheer for the 2026–2027 school year. The school is a comprehensive high school of nearly 1,800 students in north San Diego County, with an athletic program that aims to continue its history of success in cheerleading. The coach will lead cheer programs across fall sideline, winter competitive cheer, and spring stunt seasons. The role includes coaching and program administration, supporting student success and school spirit, and competing in CIF traditional cheer and San Diego Section STUNT.

Requirements

At least two years of cheerleading coaching experience at the high school, All Star, or club level, and/or recent college-level cheer experience within the last two years.
Knowledge of and ability to safely instruct all elements of cheer.
Ability to abide by NFHS stunting rules and obtain appropriate certifications.
Ability to establish and maintain a competitive tradition while supporting student success and high student expectations.
Desire and ability to compete with area high schools in CIF traditional competitive cheer and STUNT.
Willingness to support programs as requested to increase school spirit and promote school culture.
Submit a resume, one letter of recommendation, a cover letter, CPR and First Aid certifications, and a copy of an NFHS certificate.

Responsibilities

Select and train coaches for all programs.
Communicate with parents and hold meetings.
Create team member contracts.
Run tryouts for all levels and each season: fall sideline, winter competitive, and spring stunt.
Organize fundraisers and maintain finances with Team Foundation and ASB.
Order uniforms, organize orders, distribute uniforms, and maintain loaner uniforms.
Schedule summer and other practices.
Schedule competitions and travel.
Choreograph routines and order music.
Attend athletic events, including football and basketball games.
Communicate with campus organizations, including boosters, to arrange support.
Participate in school pep rallies.
Participate in CIF Traditional Championships and San Diego Section STUNT.
