About The Position

Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as the Head Coach for the Varsity Girls Basketball team. This position involves overseeing all aspects of the basketball program from youth to the varsity level, fostering a positive team environment, and promoting the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in basketball, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to the academic and athletic success of our students.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level, with a strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best both academically and athletically.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
Must pass a background check and meet all district requirements for coaches.
Availability for practices, games, and meetings during the basketball season, typically from November to March.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances the skills and performance of the student-athletes.
Plan and conduct daily practice sessions, ensuring they are organized, engaging, and focused on skill development and teamwork.
Prepare the team for competitions by developing game strategies and scouting opponents.
Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and promote a balanced commitment to academics and athletics.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations.
Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture that encourages sportsmanship and personal growth.
Organize and manage team logistics, including transportation, equipment, and game schedules.
Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program at Reed City High School.
Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with coaching techniques and strategies.
Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations set forth by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and the school district.
