About The Position

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking educators for the position of VAPA Enrichment Teacher (Visual Arts & Performing Arts) to support the Visual and Performing Arts Department. This role is open to current San Diego Unified Permanent and Probationary Teachers. The district, the second largest in California, is committed to serving students and their communities with respect for diversity and equitable opportunities. There are several full-time, 10-month vacancies in various Elementary Schools, requiring travel throughout the district. With increased resources from Proposition 28, the Visual and Performing Arts Department is expanding arts education, believing in its transformative power. Teachers will focus on Performing Arts (Dance, Music, and Theater) for grades UTK-5, serving multiple sites as an Itinerant Teacher. Requirements

  • Valid Single Subject Credential in Dance, Music or Theater OR Multiple Subject Credential with an authorization in Music, Dance, or Theater by the application deadline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and provide feedback on subject matter content for the Visual and Performing Arts curriculum scope and sequence.
  • Present subject matter to multiple grade levels according to Board of Education guidelines and administrative regulations.
  • Prepare lessons for multiple grade levels, reflecting accommodations for different student learning styles.
  • Assess student progress across multiple grade levels on objectives, expectations, and/or goals, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration, and reporting outcomes during grade reporting periods.
  • Collaborate regularly with arts educator peers across schools.
  • Participate in site-specific committees as appropriate.
  • Work with site staff to foster understanding of the arts and their role in developing personal and professional skills and abilities.
