About The Position

Oakwood Specialty Care, a 54-bed long-term care skilled nursing community in Albia, Iowa, is hiring a part-time Van Driver. The driver safely transports residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events, assists residents with boarding and exiting the van, and ensures wheelchairs are secured. The role coordinates timely pickups and drop-offs, observes residents during transport and reports concerns to nursing staff, and completes incident reports as needed. The driver also maintains the cleanliness and basic readiness of the vehicle, coordinates maintenance and service, and communicates with nursing and facility teams. The position involves building positive relationships with residents, families, and staff, maintaining reliable attendance, and working flexible hours, including weekends.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid driver's license with a Class D Chauffeur Endorsement.
Have no more than two traffic violations within the last three years.
Have no previous convictions for driving under the influence.
Have CPR and first aid certification or be willing to obtain it.

Responsibilities

Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events.
Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including securing wheelchairs.
Follow schedules and coordinate timely pickups and drop-offs.
Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff.
Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle, including fuel, fluids, and basic supplies.
Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs.
Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams.
Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends.
