About The Position

Wayne County Transportation Department is seeking qualified applicants for a position providing door-to-door transportation services to county residents. This role requires strong communication skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently while assisting individuals in accessing essential services. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the community. Enhance the mobility of consumers by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable and courteous manner. Operate county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day. This is an opportunity to provide transportation service as well as social contact for our consumers (includes senior adults and wheelchair-dependent persons). Chance to work independently. Excellent communication skills required, both person to person and via two-way radio. Willingness and patience to assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths. Ability to easily adjust in daily schedule. Must be a people-person as you will be providing important assistance and socialization throughout the day.

Requirements

  • One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
  • No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Pass a medical examination and drug screening.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
