About The Position

The Van Driver will drive in a safe and timely manner the mobile van to various locations across communities that FHCSD provide PACE programs and services. This role is responsible for registering, securing, and transporting participants and/or items to and from locations. Routes and destinations may change daily based on program and service locations. The driver will conduct daily safety inspections of the mobile van, including the interior, exterior, brakes, and headlamps, and report any mechanical malfunctions or other problems as required. Responsibilities also include daily vehicle cleaning, ensuring routine fueling, checking oil and fluid levels, cleaning windshields and headlamps, and maintaining the mobile van in clean and safe operating condition. The driver will keep mobile van maintenance records current and coordinate and schedule routine and episodic vehicle maintenance. Additionally, the role requires completing all required documentation accurately, in a timely manner, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards, such as vehicle logs and entering patient data into E.M.R. Ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations is also a key part of the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
Current American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Certification required within 90 days of employment.
Requires an active California driver's license for the class required for operation of assigned vehicle.
Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended.
An acceptable driving record is also required.
Possess safe and good driving skills.
Knowledge of the San Diego area and surrounding communities.
Ability to drive in all types of traffic, roads, and weather conditions.
Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills.
Must be able to communicate with and relate to a diverse staff and clients in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to maintain vehicle records and perform routine checks on a motor vehicle.

Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
