About The Position

To provide transportation services to Dysart Unified School District (DUSD) students to and from school and other activities using a District vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR card.
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Class D License.
Submit to annual and random, Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Acceptable driving record for the last (3) three years.
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
Knowledge of rules and regulations of driving a school vehicle, (e.g., pick-up and discharge students only at authorized stop, transport only authorized students and authorized personnel).
Knowledge of standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
Knowledge of safe uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
Knowledge of reading routes, maps and schedules.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations.
Knowledge of customer service principles.
Knowledge of specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
Knowledge of modern office technology.
Knowledge of utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
Knowledge of utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Skill in prioritizing and maintaining vehicles and equipment to provide safe operations.
Skill in composing and maintaining basic original documents including reports and correspondence.
Skill in following directions and meeting standards.
Skill in comprehending reference books and manuals.
Skill in operating assigned tools and equipment, with reasonable knowledge.
Skill in interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and able to drag up to 125 lbs.
Physically able to assist in lifting wheelchairs and students.

Responsibilities

Transports students to and from school and other activities using a school van.
Supervises student conduct and maintains safety at all times.
Reports undisciplined students to proper authority and fills out required forms.
Follows established directions for breakdowns and emergencies.
Reports all accidents to proper authority and completes related reports.
Maintains accurate written records as required.
Performs mandatory pre-trip inspections.
Maintains a clean District vehicle.
Maintains an awareness of unusual noises or conditions of vehicle, and reports such to fleet maintenance staff.
Observes all mandatory driving safety regulations.
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Establish and maintain good rapport with employees, students and community.
Other job related duties as assigned.
