About The Position

YWCA Tri-County Area is seeking a dedicated Van Driver & Facilities Support professional to join the STARS 4 Early Education Center team in Pottstown. This multifaceted role is essential to our daily operations, primarily ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of children and passengers to and from our programming while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and legal compliance. In addition to transit duties, the individual will serve as a key member of the Facilities Maintenance team, performing vital custodial tasks—such as cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking common areas and offices—to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our staff and students.

  • The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.
  • The ability to kneel, bend, squat or crawl and stand for periods of time in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • A specific vision ability including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • The ability to sit on the floor and/or ground outside to be actively involved with the children.
  • Must possess high school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of verifiable experience working directly with children.
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must be willing to submit to background checks in accordance with local law and regulations.
  • Current Health Assessment and TB test.
  • Strong desire for continued growth and learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Keystone STARS and Conscious Discipline principles preferred.
  • CDL with bus certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reliable transportation for Early Education students and adult passengers to and from local schools, field trips, camp, and YW3CA events.
  • Maintain active supervision of children during transit, ensuring a safe and respectful environment using Conscious Discipline skills and structures.
  • Manage the daily upkeep of the organization’s van, including fueling, cleaning the interior and exterior, and the frequent installation and removal of car seats.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) safety regulations and maintain accurate mileage and safety reports as required by YW3CA.
  • Perform general cleaning and janitorial duties in common areas, offices, and classrooms, including sanitizing restrooms and restocking essential supplies.
  • Execute minor repairs such as changing light bulbs and hanging items, while assisting with seasonal groundskeeping like mowing, trimming, and snow/ice removal from walkways.
  • Support the Operations department with event setup and teardown, including moving furniture, transporting equipment, and post-event cleanup.
  • Assist in routine safety inspections of the facility to identify hazards and promptly report any deficiencies or maintenance needs to the Operations Manager.
  • Uphold the YW3CA mission by treating all children, staff, and community members with dignity and professional integrity.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain organized workspaces and janitorial supplies while performing other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
