About The Position
The Van Driver CNA is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an assigned motor vehicle, with extensive contact with patients/residents of a nursing home facility. This role involves assisting individuals, both ambulatory and non-ambulatory, in entering and leaving the vehicle, ensuring they are safely seated, and securing mobility devices. The position also requires maintaining records of trips, mileage, and time, performing basic preventive maintenance on the vehicle, and notifying supervisory personnel of any service needs.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle.
- Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle.
- Ability to find geographic locations.
- Ability to follow oral/written instructions and keep a record of activities.
- Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Must be CNA certified.
- Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle.
- Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above.

Responsibilities
- Operate assigned motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals to enter and leave the vehicle.
- Ensure passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle.
- Secure residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs.
- Keep a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended.
- Document the mileage and time for each bus trip.
- Perform preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, and checking tire pressure.
- Notify supervisory personnel of the need for further service or repair.
