Valve Technician - Workstrings International - Broussard, LA
About The Position
The Valve Technician is responsible for the disassembly, evaluation, assembly, and hydrostatic testing of Kelly and Inside BOP Valves. This role requires maintaining traceability throughout job tasks and uploading applicable documents into the asset management system. Responsibilities include inventory of parts and associated equipment based on incoming evaluations and/or usage, as well as preventative maintenance of equipment. The individual will collaborate closely with dispatchers, job coordinators, and third parties to ensure valves meet internal or external requirements.
Requirements
- Must know the inner workings of Kelly and Inside BOP valves.
- Must know and implement test requirements for each customer and internal specifications.
- Must be able to operate breakout machine.
- Knowledge of torque specs, friction factors and applications of usage.

- Ability to keep track of valve inventory, valve parts of incoming and outgoing valves.
- Ability to maintain awareness of shortages in inventory.
- Ability to accurately determine condition of parts, conforming or non-conforming.
- Ability to communicate with vendors for parts.
- Ability to ensure equipment is in good working order and keep up with calibrations.
- Ability to maintain stock/inventory of o-rings, teflons, supplies, etc.
- Ability to assist in planning and shipment of damaged valves for repairs.
