About The Position

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for an Valve Technician/ SCBA Technician Engineering Technician in San Diego, CA who will test, repair and overhaul valves and assist other trades in the Valve Shop as needed. This role involves troubleshooting, disassembling, inspecting, repairing, overhauling, and testing various types of valves used in shipboard systems, as well as performing functional flow testing and repairs on SCBA harnesses and hydrostatic testing of SCBA cylinders. The technician will also be responsible for VLS Deluge Valves, Marotta fuel and air manifold valves, and boiler burner barrel assemblies. Additionally, the role includes providing training to ships' force personnel, performing relief valve testing, and utilizing shop test stands. Effective communication with ships' force and shop management is essential for troubleshooting and repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience with maintaining machinery.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain PQS 301 Craftsman Qualification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) Hydrostatic Testing of SCBA Cylinders certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Scott Safety Certification of Functional Flow and Repair of SCBA Harnesses.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Certification for Vertical Launch System (VLS) Deluge Valve Overhaul, Repair and Test.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Category 3 Crane Operator certification.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID, if travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Valve Technician specialty certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, and test valves for various shipboard systems, including butterfly, gate, globe, check, pressure reducing, Cla-Val, relief, Marotta fuel and air manifolds, and Leslie regulating and solenoid-operated pilot valves (SOPVs).
  • Perform functional flow testing, troubleshoot, and repair SCBA harnesses.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of SCBA cylinders in accordance with FWPs, equipment technical manuals, and other approved technical references.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, and test VLS Deluge Valves in compliance with requirements of FWPs and other approved technical references.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, and test Marotta fuel and air manifold valves.
  • Inspect, disassemble, overhaul, and hydrostatically test fossil-fueled boiler burner barrel and assemblies in accordance with FWPs equipment technical manuals and other approved technical references.
  • Provide training to ships’ force personnel on proper valve overhaul procedures under Fleet Valve Services.
  • Perform relief valve testing using pop test stand in accordance with ships’ Preventative Maintenance System (PMS) requirements for all shipboard systems.
  • Utilize shop test stand to test and properly set manifold reliefs and regulators to correct system parameters provided in FWPs, technical manuals, and other approved technical references.
  • Communicate with ships’ force and shop management regarding required equipment for in-depth troubleshooting and repairs.
