Valve Automation Technician - Genesis Systems
About The Position
The Valve Automation Technician is a hands-on role that builds, tests, and troubleshoots automated valve and actuator assemblies using electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical components. The role uses equipment and materials such as Fluke meters, 4-20 mA generators, wiring, tubing, solenoids, positioners, and other automation accessories, and requires reading schematics, technical manuals, and CAD drawings. The technician also supports quality inspections, shipping and warehouse operations, and upkeep of a safe and organized work environment. Genesis Systems distributes valves, control valves, regulators, and valve automation products in Texas and Oklahoma. It is a subsidiary of FloWorks USA LP, a privately held company located in Houston, Texas. The role operates in a warehouse environment using standard office equipment; occasional visits to warehouses or operational sites may be required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience with Fluke meters, 4-20 mA generators, electrical wiring, and tube bending.
- Experience with pneumatic tools and compressed air.
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and CAD drawings.
- Ability to operate basic hand tools, forklifts, and jib cranes.
- Ability to work with computers, specifically Microsoft SharePoint, Outlook, and Excel.
Nice To Haves
- Technical or vocational training.
- Prior experience in home appliance repair.
- Prior experience in automotive repair.
Responsibilities
- Build, automate, and function-test assemblies according to ADS, including a variety of valve types and assemblies, pneumatic and electric actuators, manual valves, rotary valves, and linear valves.
- Work with specialized automation accessories such as limit switches, solenoids, positioners, and quick exhaust devices.
- Assist with automation final quality control and quality assurance, including photo documentation.
- Troubleshoot automation and valve issues in the shop.
- Provide backup support for the Shipping Manager, including packaging, dock coverage, and assisting with truck loading and unloading.
- Provide offsite support if needed.
- Help print and edit ADS.
- Maintain general warehouse and shop safety and cleanliness, including emptying VAC area trash cans as needed each morning.
- Attend monthly safety meetings and training.
