About The Position

The Component Make Center includes product and process focused value streams that fabricate and assemble subassemblies and missile sections in support of the RTX portfolio of weapons to the war fighter. Emphasizing mission assurance by encouraging initiative at all levels, the Components Make Center manages customer commitments through quality, cost, and schedule execution. The Value Stream Lead (VSL) for UPMC 2nd shift is the Leader within a production manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of a cross functional team which includes the Factory Leads, Production Support team (ME, IE, QE, PC) and Production engineering support team. The VSL will be tasked to generate, maintain, and execute clear operational schedules, priorities, goals while collaborating with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the VSL will have accountability for production, depot deliveries, failure investigation and triage, direction to salary production support, prioritization of design engineering support and safety within their factory area. This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work 2nd Shift once they are prepared for success and can own the role. Extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both manufacturing and technical leadership roles. This is a second shift position.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of five (5) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum three (3) years' experience.
  • Experience with either manufacturing or operations.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily production priorities while maintaining disciplined adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Support ultra precision machining operations through strong floor presence, effective communication, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Identify and escalate constraints affecting output, flow, quality, or resource utilization, and help drive timely corrective action.
  • Coordinate effectively with first shift leadership, manufacturing engineering, quality, planning, maintenance, and supporting functions.
  • Promote standard work, accountability, and operational discipline while helping mature the performance and culture of the shift.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that improve throughput, reduce disruption, and strengthen overall shop execution.
  • Operate with a high degree of ownership and sound judgment in an environment where shift-level decisions directly affect business results.
