Plannera Pensions & Benefits (Plannera), formerly known as the Public Employees’ Benefits Agency, is on the lookout for talented individuals to become part of our dynamic team of 155 employees. Reporting to the Director, Investment Operations, this role operates in a fast-paced valuation environment where accuracy, timeliness, and problem-solving are critical to delivering reliable investment data.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience within the financial services sector is required.
  • Applications must clearly demonstrate direct, hands-on experience with investment data, reconciliations, and/or valuation processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Fund accounting and/or investment valuation experience is highly valued for this role.
  • Alternatively, the qualifications may be acquired through one of the following pathways: Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, Professional accounting designation, Diploma in Accounting combined with completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC).

Responsibilities

  • Leading reconciliations of investment data with the Plan custodian, consultant, and investment managers
  • End-to-end investment cash flow management, including private markets capital calls, FX execution, liquidity monitoring, and fee processing
  • Owning the operational lifecycle of private markets investments, including capital calls, distributions, carried interest, and valuation inputs
  • Calculating pooled fund distributions and ensuring timely accruals to accurately record transactions impacting plan investments
  • Investigating and resolving NAV breaks through root cause analysis across pricing, FX, positions, and transactions
  • Providing oversight on the setup of new products and portfolios with the Plan custodian, ensuring accuracy in pricing, currencies, data feeds, fees, reporting, and performance analytics
  • Completing necessary global documentation to meet foreign market opening requirements prior to active trading
  • Participating in audit and compliance activities, including document preparation, audit support, and implementation of recommendations
  • Reviewing the work of team members, offering guidance to junior staff, and acting as an escalation point for issues as they arise
  • Serving as a mentor and role model to junior team members by sharing knowledge openly and inspiring engagement in various tasks and projects
