About The Position

International Motors LLC is looking for a Validation Technician-Powertrain and Fuel Economy to join the Powertrain and Fuel Economy Validation team. The group performs a wide variety of engineering validation tests to document a vehicle’s performance as related to fuel/energy economy, powertrain performance, calibration regressions, aerodynamic countdowns, and a wide variety of fuel system level testing for commercial trucks and/or busses.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree and at least 4 years of supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience experience OR At least 6 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience experience
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Familiar with shop tools (hand tools, pneumatic tools, pallet jacks, etc.)
  • Commercial Driver’s License or be willing to get Class A and P endorsements
  • Familiarity with e-vehicles and safety procedures for high voltage vehicles
  • High level of computer literacy – Office suite, computer networking knowledge, and processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Install test instrumentation like data loggers, network cables, flowmeters, aero probes, thermocouples, pressure transducers, etc.
  • Create, edit, and close work orders to document vehicle preparation, test, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain instrumentation inventory and check-in/out assets in online instrumentation database
  • Perform instrumentation shakedowns/functionality checks prior to tests
  • Execute testing under supervision of engineering team members to confirm vehicle requirements are met, and reports results. Testing will be conducted at International test facilities, other test facilities or on public roads.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment issues by referencing diagnostic manuals and/or using diagnostic software
  • Create new procedures to improve efficiency and/or update existing procedures based on lessons learned.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshoot issues with instrumentation and/or test vehicles.
  • Coordinate with validation team members and other groups within organization to complete projects.
  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle, engine systems and components
  • Ability to perform minor repairs/modifications to vehicles as needed to maintain test/project timelines
  • Ability to travel up to 25% with trips varying in range from 1 day to 2 weeks in duration when necessary.
