The Validation Engineer will report to Director of Testing and be responsible for development, optimization, and validation of testing methodologies, and compliant laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 3~5 years experience in laboratory, testing, or engineering environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and validate scientific test methods for electronic vapor products to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility.
  • Identify gaps, limitations, and sources of variability in current testing methodologies; propose and implement method improvements.
  • Define test parameters, sample sizes, test conditions, and acceptance criteria based on risk assessment, DOE principles, and scientific rationale.
  • Assist in structuring fit-for-purpose experimental designs (DoE), ensuring clarity on variables, controls, and success criteria.
  • Operate within and actively support the development of Greentank’s QMS framework, including: SOP adherence and updates, Deviation tracking and escalation, CAPA support (Corrective & Preventive Actions).
  • Ensure all testing activities meet internal quality standards and are aligned with regulatory expectations (e.g. health Canada).
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal/external audits where required.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory expectations, and emerging scientific approaches related to aerosol science, materials testing, and measurement systems.
  • Ensure all test data is: Accurately recorded, structured, and stored in designated systems; Traceable to specific samples, equipment, and test conditions.
  • Provide scientific data analysis, calculation, and presentation methods to deliver more accurate and intuitive insights.
  • Maintain data logs, test reports, and digital/physical records in accordance with data integrity principles.
  • Support the development and maintenance of centralised data repositories and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of test samples and materials to coordinate sample readiness and availability to meet project timelines.
  • Take the main ownership of testing equipment, tools, and jigs sourcing and development.
  • Take the main ownership of performing maintenance, calibration and repairs on testing equipment.
  • Take the main ownership of handling routine laboratory upkeep and maintenance tasks.
  • Create, organize, and maintain the regulation of lab operation and housekeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory health & safety standards, including: Safe handling of chemicals and materials, Proper use of PPE, Waste disposal procedures.
  • Support risk assessments (e.g. COSHH-style assessments) and incident reporting.
  • Promote a safety-first culture within the lab environment.
  • Act as a coordination point between Testing, Engineering, Product, and Quality teams.
  • Track project progress against milestones and escalate risks where required.
  • Support communication with external testing partners and suppliers where relevant.
