About The Position

The Validation Engineering Co-Op supports planning and execution of tasks within AbbVie’s Quality Assurance Validation department. The department is responsible for plant validation, including validated systems (equipment and processes), risk/design, and change-control compliance, and works to align with Global Quality Systems for validation and related functions such as engineering and risk management. The Co-Op supports manufacturing and/or Quality Control areas and interacts extensively with the quality organization. This is a six-month, in-person role at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, from July through December.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or another related field.
Must remain enrolled in university for at least one semester following the co-op.
Expected graduation date between May 2028 and December 2028.
Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, communication, self-starting ability, willingness to ask questions, and time management skills.
Experience working with Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Must commit to a six-month in-person co-op at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, from July through December.

Responsibilities

Execute tasks required to implement the Validation Master Plan.
Participate with external engineering and QC departments on new installations, system modifications, and decommissioning.
Draft and execute validation plans and protocols in compliance with cGMP practices.
Ensure investigations of validation failures are completed thoroughly and documented accurately.
