This position involves helping everyday people find parking solutions with great exercise. The Valet will possess outstanding front-line customer service skills and create a positive first and last impression to customers (patients, families, visitors, etc.) who use Valet Service at any valet entrance. The role demands extraordinary professionalism and tact when interacting with customers during stressful and busy times. The Valet is expected to exert self-confidence and remain in control amidst distractions, demonstrating empathy and a caring attitude toward customers who are under stress. The ability to work outside in all environmental elements and walk up to eight miles a day at a steady pace is required. Services include assisting patients, families, and other customers by meeting and greeting them, parking their vehicle, providing directions, assisting anyone using handicapped areas, and offering other reasonable services. Valets are responsible for the general upkeep, inside and outside, of all valet entrances. When patients and visitors are ready to leave, the valet will retrieve the vehicle and return it to the customer. The valet is also expected to assist any healthcare staff when discharging patients, which may include opening vehicle doors and/or loading personal belongings into vehicles. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and provide excellent customer service is essential. The Valet must be able to operate all types of motor vehicles using manual or automatic transmissions. The role is expected to create a favorable image of the Sanford campus by demonstrating a warm and caring attitude towards patients, visitors, family members, and their vehicles. Willingness to extend a hand and welcome people is important. Good communication skills are required to deal effectively, tactfully, and courteously with all guests. Perceptiveness to the needs of patients, visitors, and family members, and the ability to seek appropriate resources when needed, are crucial. A positive attitude, the ability to learn quickly, and adapt easily to change are expected. Good problem-solving skills are necessary. If unable to answer a customer's question, the Valet must use available resources to find the answer. The ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment during unusual circumstances and possess good critical thinking skills is required. The Valet may be required to transport non-emergent patients and visitors within a one-mile radius of the originating medical care facility.
