About The Position

Hospital patients and their families are greeted, welcomed, and transported to their rooms, ancillary areas, and outlying locations as needed. Patients are transported to and from designated areas of the hospital and to outlying locations in a caring, considerate, expedient, and professional manner at all times. The valet driver ensures patient identification bracelets are on patients before transporting and demonstrates compassion and respect in all interactions with patients, family, and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • 5 years of good driving experience: no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years and zero DUI convictions or reckless driving convictions.
  • High School or equivalent
  • Able to push, pull, lift or carry on a regular basis.
  • Good Communication and Customer Service Skills.
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license with NO severe violations in the past 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Epic rover system by accurately reporting delays associated with transports and updating at correct times throughout the transport process to ensure smooth and timely operations.
  • Obtain and accurately complete 'Ticket to Ride' as required by non-licensed employees, ensuring nursing and diagnostic areas complete correctly and turning them in promptly at the end of return or one-way transports.
  • Keep wheelchairs and stretchers clean, made-up, and stored appropriately. Report non-functioning equipment immediately and report the amount of clean linen needed to ensure availability.
  • Maintain accurate patient care documentation on transporter cards and sign in/out logs to enhance unit operational efficiency.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when patient care problems arise (e.g., non-functional I.V., cardiac arrest, patient distress) immediately.
  • Utilize all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner to ensure efficient departmental operations and the provision of high-quality health care services.
  • Notify supervisor of vehicle service issues and assure that vehicles are clean and safe to operate at all times.
  • Follow all traffic regulations 100% of the time and have zero occurrences of accidents due to own fault. Report any violations to the manager immediately.
  • Enter information into the SMS Valet system and park vehicles in the appropriate valet area.
  • Ensure all keys are left with security after Valet is closed.
  • Keep the shuttle clean and in orderly condition at the end of the shift/when altered by the SMS valet system and complete all logs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Actively participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, and training sessions to share expertise in job duties and responsibilities as needed.
