About The Position

The Valet Attendant is responsible for approaching all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner. They must maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, is essential when working. The attendant must comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. This role involves transferring luggage, trunks, and packages to and from rooms, loading areas, vehicles, or transportation terminals, by hand or using baggage carts. They will also receive and mark baggage by completing and attaching claim checks, greet incoming guests and escort them to their rooms, and assist physically challenged travelers and other guests with special needs. Maintaining clean lobbies or entrance areas for travelers or guests, computing and completing charge slips for services rendered, and maintaining records are also key duties. The attendant will pick up and return items for laundry and valet service, open doors, and assist at Front Desk operations as directed by the manager/supervisor. Ensuring guest safety and following all department SOPs on entering and exiting guest rooms are paramount. Marginal duties include answering the bell stand telephone and participating in departmental meetings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year of experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work long hours, some back to back shifts as needed
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
  • Near Vision – ability to see details at close range
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for lengthy periods of time
  • Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly in English
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
