Reporting to the Manager, Site Maintenance, the Vacuum Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vacuum and water trucks to support camp services, site infrastructure, and environmental compliance. This role involves the collection, transport, and disposal of septage and wastewater from site facilities, as well as operating light to medium equipment as required, while ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with Skeena’s health, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brakes (Class 1 preferred).
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Required vaccinations for handling septage, including:
  • Hepatitis A & B (Twinrix)
  • Tetanus (Td)
  • Typhoid
  • Minimum 5 years of water truck and/or vacuum truck operating experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of construction equipment operating experience, including loaders, skid steers, small excavators, and graders.
  • Strong understanding of safe septage handling, wastewater transport, and environmental controls.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote camp environment.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to Skeena’s health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dedicated septage hauling operations between site camps, facilities, and approved wastewater treatment locations.
  • Collect and transport septage from multiple locations across the project area and access roads for processing at designated wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Operate light to medium construction equipment including loaders, skid steers, small excavators, graders, and related equipment.
  • Ensure all wastewater and septage handling activities comply with site procedures, environmental regulations, and health and safety standards.
  • Conduct pre‑operational inspections and routine maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Accurately complete logbooks, inspection reports, and required documentation.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and professionalism at all work locations.
  • Support camp operations, site infrastructure, and environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Perform all duties as reasonably assigned.
  • May be required to operate the pumper truck from time to time.
