About The Position

The Vacation/Shift Relief Operator works in all positions within the department and efficiently covers positions as needed. The role supports production activities, helps direct associates on the production floor, calculates yields and raw material usage, and maintains equipment and work areas in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The operator completes required paperwork and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to be assertive.
• Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment.
• Must be able to frequently lift more than 50 pounds.
• Must have basic mechanical skills and general knowledge of machine operation.
• Must demonstrate excellent work habits in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safe working habits.
• Must be able to use creative thinking for troubleshooting.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have good human relations skills, including the ability to work well with others and be a team player.
• Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Must be willing to assist other team members in other areas.
• Must be able to perform steady and productive work for an extended period of time.
• Must be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Must possess basic math skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work, and a commitment to Publix and its mission.

Responsibilities

• Work successfully and efficiently in all positions in the department, covering positions as needed.
• Participate in setup and cleanup activities.
• Participate in product changeovers.
• Provide direction to associates on the production floor.
• Calculate yields and raw material usage.
• Maintain clean equipment in the area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Complete all paperwork required by the position.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
