About The Position

The Vactor Operator is responsible for leading and performing sewer and storm drainage maintenance and cleaning operations using high-pressure jetting and vacuum (Vactor) equipment. This position requires strong technical ability, leadership in the field, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficient job execution. The ideal candidate will coordinate with team members and clients to ensure all work is completed to company standards and project requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Florida Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License and CDL License
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Clean Driving History
  • 2-3 Years’ experience operating Vac Truck
  • Able to work regular hours (6:00AM – 5:00 PM). Occasional night and weekend work. Out of town work may apply
  • Handling of specialized and fragile equipment
  • Data entry (Daily logs, tracking information from hob sites, issues encountered, etc.)
  • Must comply with all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations
  • Required to wear all appropriate PPE at all times
  • Must maintain a strong safety-first mindset in all work activities
  • All employees must undergo a pre-employment background check and substance screening process prior to being considered for employment.
  • Must be comfortable working outside year-round in all types of weather.
  • Exposure to varying levels of physical activities. Standing, crouching, walking, crawling. Capable of heavy lifting up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Friendly and professional attitude.

  • Pipeline/Manhole Rehabilitation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations and train team members by example through performance and accountability
  • Maintain a positive and professional work attitude at all times
  • Read and interpret sewer and storm drainage site plans
  • Operate tablets to complete daily logs, pre-trip inspections, and fuel reports
  • Execute high-production work while maintaining quality standards
  • Coordinate job plans and execution strategies with clients and supervisors
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and team members
  • Direct and coordinate helpers to ensure efficient job performance (including pre-job planning such as storm run assessments)
  • Maintain cleanliness, care, and proper maintenance of all equipment, trucks, tools, and materials
  • Ensure all required tools and equipment are available and properly stored before and after each job
  • Follow all safety procedures, which may change based on site conditions
  • Adhere to all PPE requirements and company safety policies
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve field challenges
  • Maintain efficient workflow and production standards throughout the workday
  • Follow company defensive driving and safety standards
  • Inspect and maintain high-pressure jetting hoses and related equipment
  • Understand pressure limits and operational risks to prevent property damage (e.g., sewer backup, “burping,” or residential impacts)
  • Train helpers on daily tasks, equipment operation, and proper maintenance procedures
  • Ensure proper care of small tools, nozzles, and specialized equipment
  • Work safely in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions
  • Perform physical labor including lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces when required
  • Follow all safety protocols including use of protective equipment and hazard awareness
