About The Position

Vet et Nous is a multidisciplinary team composed of veterinarian both generalists and specialists operating at high rank whose mission is to take care of client’s pets as if they were our own. Our teams are split in 3 emergency and reference centres open 24/7 and several general practice hospitals and clinics in the greater Montreal, Laval, Montérégie, Laurentides, Lanaudière, Mauricie, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Quebec region. The veterinarian plays a primary role for our clients, as the reason for their visit is a very stressful moment for them. They will need your empathy, expertise, and calm at all times! You will work closely with our existing teams to offer the best services to clients and patients through your expertise. You will conduct clinical consultations for your patients, determine and apply the most appropriate diagnostic method to obtain the most complete evaluation. You will also perform routine surgeries and required treatments, while ensuring the follow-up of your hospitalized patients. This is a permanent, full-time position. The schedule is variable, including days, evenings, and weekends. Working hours are from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, depending on the operational needs of the establishment.   • The Vet et Nous Excellence mentorship program is a 26-week mentorship initiative designed to facilitate the transition of new veterinary medicine graduates into professional practice. The program focuses on three key areas: consultation, surgery, and dentistry. The program is divided into four distinct phases, allowing for personalized pacing based on individual needs: 1. Welcome and orientation 2. Hospital operations and observation 3. Modified consultation program and supervised procedures 4. Independent physician schedule with ongoing support.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation: Welcome client/patient; Perform clinical examination and evaluation of animals; Provide excellent service to owners; Provide appropriate medical care; Communicate well with people by adequately answering all their questions; Respect the reason for the visit while obtaining the most complete history possible within the allocated time; Perform rigorous follow-ups, when necessary.
  • Animal Diagnostics: Choose diagnostic methods (X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, etc.); Interpret results.
  • Animal Treatments: Recommend appropriate treatment during consultation; Direct and supervise treatments provided to animals; Perform follow-up; Supervise technical procedures.
  • Hospitalized Animals: Hospitalize the patient; Evaluate hospitalized animals according to the S.O.A.P. method when undergoing treatment in the morning or evening; Ensure follow-up of hospitalized cases; Ensure daily communication with the client regarding the animal's condition and the evolution of the bill; Interact with the attending veterinarian, or perform continuous follow-up of the case, if the owner requests it and circumstances require it.
  • Communications / Phone Calls: Answer client questions and calls as quickly as possible; Inform clients of laboratory results and other tests within a reasonable timeframe. If you cannot return the call within a reasonable timeframe, ensure that relevant information is transferred to another veterinarian to enable them to do so; Follow up and ensure satisfactory case progression. Discuss with the client: differential diagnoses, possible treatments, prognosis, cost, estimate, etc.; Inform the client personally of the costs of diagnostic procedures (including follow-ups) and treatments, or ensure directly with the client that they have fully understood the costs as explained by the receptionists or technicians. Ensure the client has a good understanding of their animal's medical condition.
  • Surgery: Perform routine surgeries.
  • Estimates: Prepare cost estimates for surgeries, hospitalization cases, treatments, etc.; Inform clients of deposit amounts for surgical procedures or hospitalization treatments.
  • Record Keeping: Document and complete the file; Maintain records in accordance with the Order's directives (OMVQ); Complete patient medical records and record all communication between the veterinarian and the client; Make case referrals when necessary and prepare relevant documents rigorously and completely.
  • Prescriptions: Prescribe medications; Prepare or fill prescriptions; Renew prescriptions; Note and keep up-to-date the number of authorized renewals in the file.
  • Team Spirit: Work closely (training, communication, delegation) with the technical team and technical support to motivate them and optimize the department; Answer support staff questions and contribute to improving their knowledge; Mentor new veterinarians and participate in their integration into the team.
  • Other: Conduct necessary research on cases (books, specialists, Internet, etc.); Present a professional, competent, and compassionate image for both the Veterinary establishment and the profession; Carry out discharges adequately; Check recalls: add or edit as needed; Attend meetings; Participate in public and client education; Participate in the outreach of their veterinary establishment: marketing activities, public relations activities, television, radio, conferences, telemedicine, articles, internal improvement, public education.
