The UXO Technician III identifies and classifies unexploded ordnance (UXO) and discarded military munitions (DMM) and their fuses as well as excavating and moving munitions acceptable for movement. The UXO Technician III must be able to perform the responsibilities of UXO Sweep Personnel, UXO Technician I and UXO Technician II. Expected Outcomes include supervising and performing on-site demilitarization of Munitions of Explosive Concern (MEC) and handling of demolition materials, preparing an explosives storage plan, preparing required UXO munitions response actions and range maintenance administrative reports, preparing standard operating procedures for on-site munitions responses and for range clearance activities, assisting in the preparation of risk and hazards analyses, conducting daily site safety briefings, and supervising the conduct of all on-site UXO-related operations. This role also involves inspecting, certifying, and verifying Materials Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as safe, or as to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within the Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards.
