About The Position

DecisionPoint seeks a UX/UI Front End Developer (Journeyman) to design, develop, and optimize responsive user interfaces for a secure enterprise case management and reporting platform serving Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders. The developer will support iterative, Agile development cycles to enhance usability, accessibility, and performance across multiple IL-tier environments. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of front-end technologies, responsive design, and human-centered design principles, ensuring that system interfaces are intuitive, efficient, and accessible to users operating in varied conditions, including low-bandwidth or field environments. This position is fully remote.

Requirements

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Interactive Media, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in front-end development or UI/UX design for enterprise or government systems.
  • Experience creating accessible, responsive, and modular front-end components in Agile environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD or federal digital service standards, data visualization, and iterative software delivery.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and at least one modern framework (React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON integration, and data-driven UI components.
  • Familiarity with front-end performance optimization and accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, SortSite).
  • Understanding of UI/UX testing methodologies including A/B testing and user feedback loops.
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities across design and technical teams.
  • Keen attention to detail with a focus on usability, simplicity, and accessibility.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and deliver high-quality UI components under Agile timelines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with an understanding of iterative improvement and user-centered adaptation.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA Security+ CE (for DoD 8570 compliance).
  • Certified Web Accessibility Specialist (CWAS) or UX Design certification.
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent cloud credential.

Responsibilities

  • Translate user and business requirements into modern, responsive user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue.js).
  • Implement user-centered design (UCD) and human-centered design (HCD) principles to improve usability and accessibility for DoD mission users.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes that effectively communicate design intent.
  • Ensure front-end components conform to Section 508 and WCAG 2.x accessibility standards and DoD Manual 8400.01 requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, optimizing performance for low bandwidth and high-latency environments such as ships or remote deployments.
  • Conduct UI/UX performance testing and benchmarking, documenting findings and improvement plans for iterative design cycles.
  • Support integration of case management and reporting workflows through intuitive layouts and data visualizations.
  • Collaborate with backend developers, data engineers, and architects to ensure seamless integration between front-end and system APIs.
  • Implement data compression, caching, and image optimization techniques to improve load times and scalability.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous design improvement.
  • Maintain version control discipline through repositories such as AWS CodeCommit or GitHub Enterprise.
  • Provide input to documentation and design standards ensuring consistent UI/UX presentation across the system lifecycle.
