About The Position

CodeMettle provides a flexible data management software platform that solves complex, mission critical network, communications, and process management challenges. CodeMettle serves defense, government, and communications providers and offers innovative and scalable management of networks. The company is based in Atlanta, GA and is growing a team of talented and dedicated professionals committed to delivering superior software and services to customers worldwide. CodeMettle is a growing company passionately focused on solving the toughest problems for the most discerning customers. We provide commercial software products and custom software development and integration services for organizations in the broadcast, telecommunications, and government defense markets. We are looking for a thoughtful, adaptable UX Designer to join our growing design team. In this role, you will shape and improve digital experiences across our products, from early discovery through delivery, by grounding your work in user-centered design principles while staying flexible enough to adjust your approach as priorities, constraints, and team dynamics evolve. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, stakeholders, and fellow designers, often navigating competing perspectives to find alignment and drive design decisions forward. This is an ideal role for someone who has built a solid UX foundation and is ready to deepen their craft while growing their ability to influence and collaborate across a broader organization.

Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years of professional experience in UX design, with a track record of shipping user-centered digital products or features.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating your design process end-to-end, from research and problem framing through ideation, testing, and iteration, not just polished final screens.
  • Solid grounding in user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners, including product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders, with the communication and interpersonal skills to navigate differing viewpoints and build consensus.
  • Comfort presenting and articulating design decisions to varied audiences, and the maturity to incorporate feedback constructively, even when it means changing direction.
  • A flexible, pragmatic mindset. You understand that great UX work requires adapting your process to the situation rather than following a rigid playbook.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., CoPilot, Claude, Gemini, Figma AI features, or similar) as part of your UX workflow, with the judgment to know when they enhance your work and when to rely on traditional methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within Agile or similar iterative development environments, with an understanding of how design integrates into the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, design sprints, or collaborative alignment sessions with mixed-discipline groups.
  • Basic understanding of front-end development concepts (HTML/CSS), enough to have productive conversations with engineers about feasibility and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Research & Discovery: Plan and conduct user research activities, including interviews, usability testing, surveys, and competitive analysis, to uncover user needs, pain points, and opportunities that inform design direction.
  • Design Execution: Create wireframes, prototypes, interaction models, and user flows that clearly communicate design intent and rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to align on goals, negotiate trade-offs, and ensure design solutions balance user needs with business objectives and technical feasibility.
  • Facilitation & Alignment: Lead or contribute to design reviews, workshops, and cross-functional working sessions, helping diverse teams build shared understanding and move toward decisions together.
  • Adaptability & Process Flexibility: Adjust your design approach and level of fidelity based on the stage of the project, the needs of the team, and the pace of delivery. Know when to go deep on research and when to move quickly with informed assumptions.
  • Design System Stewardship: Apply and contribute to our design system, maintaining visual and interaction consistency across products while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • AI-Assisted Design: Leverage AI tools thoughtfully and at appropriate stages of the design process, whether for accelerating research synthesis, generating content or design variations, rapid prototyping, or streamlining repetitive tasks. Apply critical judgment about when AI adds value and when human-led approaches are more appropriate.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with UX best practices, accessibility standards, emerging design trends, and evolving AI capabilities. Actively seek out feedback to grow your skills and elevate team quality.
