About The Position

Target is seeking UX Designer Interns for Summer 2026 to join their Product Design (UX) and Accessibility team. This role involves connecting guests to products and providing insights to inform the design process. The team focuses on creating tangible, inspiring, and impactful solutions for guests, team members, and the business, ensuring all digital experiences are accessible. As a Product Designer Intern, you will contribute to bringing Target's purpose to life across Target.com, Target apps, and internal solutions by designing new and evolving existing digital retail experiences. You will be part of a nimble, friendly, and high-performing team within Target's growing digital business. The role supports the full design process, from discovery and testing to handoff and quality assurance, contributing to design deliverables like visual design and intuitive flows. You will also focus on guest tasks and journeys, information architecture, and advocating for consistency by utilizing and contributing to the design system. Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team including UX designers, UX writers, engineers, product managers, QA staff, accessibility consultants, data analysts, and UX researchers is expected. You will learn to leverage data and guest insights, participate in guest research, and partner with other Target teams to ensure a cohesive guest experience. Robust onboarding and personal/career development support will be provided.

Requirements

  • 1+ years’ experience in digital software product work, with user experience emphases in research, UX architecture, interaction design and/or visual design
  • Bachelor’s degree with focus on User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
  • A portfolio featuring product design work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern design and prototyping tools (such as Sketch and InVision)

  • Awareness of data and research methodologies and ability to partner with research experts

Responsibilities

  • Support the full design process, from discovery and testing to handoff and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to design deliverables, including visual design and flows that are intuitive, elegant, and provide value for guests while accounting for a variety of scenarios.
  • Step back from interface design to think through guest tasks or journeys in terms of structure and information architecture.
  • Advocate for consistency and restraint by actively utilizing and contributing to the design system.
  • Partner and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of UX designers, UX writers, engineers, product managers, QA staff, accessibility consultants, data analysts and UX researchers.
  • Leverage data and guest insights to inform design decisions.
  • Participate in guest research and learn to conduct your own with leadership from our UX research team.
  • Partner with other teams across Target (apps, marketing, pricing & promotions, item, etc.) to ensure cohesiveness in the guest experience.
