About The Position

BSN SPORTS, a Varsity Brands Company, is the largest team sporting goods equipment and apparel distributor in the United States. Our mission is to save coaches and administrators time so they can focus on impacting young lives. The Jr. UX Designer will execute design tasks within digital feature products, gaining hands-on experience in UI design, component development, and research execution with mentorship. This role involves participating in usability testing, design critiques, and learning industry standards for accessibility, content, and developer handoff. The UX team at Varsity Brands transforms complex challenges into intuitive products and experiences for athletes, coaches, parents, and club leaders.

Requirements

  • Ability to design user-centered solutions that balance user needs with business requirements and technical constraints.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale through presentations and documentation to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to receive and integrate feedback constructively in a collaborative design environment.
  • Knowledge of foundational UX research methods including usability testing and heuristic evaluation.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines at an introductory level.
  • Proficient in Figma for wireframing, visual design, and component creation.
  • Proficient in using AI tools to accelerate design drafts, research synthesis, and documentation.
  • Formal education or certification in UX/UI Design, Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field required; or equivalent portfolio-demonstrated skill.
  • Portfolio required showing design process and problem-solving approach, not just polished final screens.
  • 0–2+ years of professional or project-based design experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or capstone project involving ecommerce, B2B tools, or configurator and customization products.
  • Exposure to or coursework in WCAG accessibility guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Designs individual screens and component variants within feature products under the direction of senior design team members.
  • Shadows usability testing sessions and helps prepare task scripts, audience selection, and participant screeners to support research efforts.
  • Learns and applies the team's content standards, accessibility checklist, and developer handoff process across all design work.
  • Participates actively in design critique sessions and iterates quickly on feedback from senior designers and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
