About The Position

Tonkin Reconditioning Center supports Tonkin dealerships throughout the Portland metro area by reconditioning vehicles and performing Used Vehicle Inspections (UVIs). The UVI Technician performs detailed used-vehicle inspections and light reconditioning tasks before vehicles are distributed to dealerships. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and efficiency because the work affects vehicle quality, safety, and readiness for sale. OEM certifications are not required. This is a full-time, flat-rate position at the Tonkin Reconditioning Center in Portland, Oregon. Compensation is described as $23.00 to $31.00 per hour depending on certifications; the posting also lists a salary range of $5,000 to $8,000 commission per month.

Requirements

• Automotive service or inspection experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

• Automotive service or inspection experience.
• Certifications may affect the flat-rate compensation; OEM certifications are not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform Used Vehicle Inspections (UVIs) according to Tonkin standards and procedures.
• Accurately document vehicle condition, needed repairs, and recommendations.
• Conduct basic reconditioning tasks as assigned.
• Coordinate with reconditioning and service teams to support timely vehicle flow.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow company policies, safety guidelines, and workflow processes.
