Utilization Review Coordinator - Part Time

About The Position

Georgetown Behavioral Health Institute, a 118-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital, is seeking a part-time Outpatient Utilization Review Coordinator. The role works with insurance companies and managed care systems to obtain authorization and complete concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient admissions and services. The coordinator obtains authorization for each admitted patient and monitors each step of the authorization process to identify potential problems proactively and help patients access the full range of their benefits through utilization review.

Requirements

A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred but not required.
Texas licensure as an LPC-I, LPC, LMSW, LMFT, or LMFT-A is preferred but not required.
Two years of clinical experience in a facility is preferred.
Experience with medical terminology and criteria for acute psychiatric inpatient care is preferred.
Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills.
Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment.
Flexibility; teaching or training skills are helpful.
Understanding of, or ability to understand, DSM-V methodology.
Advanced knowledge and clinical skills in mental health diagnosis and treatment.
Knowledge of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health.
Basic PC skills, including Windows and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to type at least 30 words per minute.
Excellent communication skills, good listening skills, and a pleasant demeanor that encourages and engages others.
Ability to multitask and prioritize, with strong time-management skills.
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and physical, and provide positive employment references.

Nice To Haves

A master’s degree in a relevant field such as mental health, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology.
Texas licensure as an LPC-I, LPC, LMSW, LMFT, or LMFT-A.
Two years of clinical experience in a facility, including experience with medical terminology and criteria for acute psychiatric inpatient care.
Knowledge of insurance coverage and billing practices.
Previous experience in utilization review or case management.
Teaching or training skills.
