The Facilities Utility Worker position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities for students, staff, and visitors of the college. This position performs a variety of, maintenance, and utility duties to ensure high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and facility upkeep. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and customer service. This position may work independently or as part of a team and may be assigned to different shifts and locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Report building maintenance issues and safety concerns
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Assist with furniture moving and room setups
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways during winter months
  • Maintain exterior areas including sweeping and trash removal
  • Replace light bulbs and perform basic lighting maintenance
  • Clean entrance mats and runners
  • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures
  • Use personal protective equipment as required
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas
  • Report safety hazards and concerns
  • Secure buildings and rooms as assigned
  • Monitor building security during shifts
  • Respond to emergency cleaning situations
  • Participate in safety training programs
  • Assist with deep cleaning projects
  • Support event setup and teardown
  • Perform floor care including stripping and waxing
  • Help with painting and touch-up work
  • Participate in seasonal cleaning projects
  • Support renovation and moving projects
  • Assist with grounds maintenance as needed
  • Complete special cleaning requests
  • Complete cleaning checklists and logs
  • Report supply needs and inventory
  • Document maintenance issues
  • Communicate with supervisor about work progress
  • Respond to work orders and requests
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks completed
  • Report accidents or incidents promptly
  • Participate in team meetings and training
