About The Position

Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Utility Worker for the 2nd Shift, from 3pm through 11pm. Utilities are responsible for general housekeeping of the production area, packing, case making, inspecting, and other general factory tasks in accordance with established procedures, specifications, and other guidelines. The primary duties of a Utility role include understanding, following, and enforcing all established safety, health, quality GMP, and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices. They will participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned. Responsibilities also include visually inspecting finished product for defects, ensuring cases are properly sealed, packing bottles according to customer specifications, clearing trimmer jams and restarting, and safely shutting off/on the trimmer. The role requires notifying supervisors or leads of potential problems with finished product and/or machinery, de-labeling and grinding bottles as necessary while checking for contamination, and properly strapping, tying, stacking, and orienting cases and units in the correct unit load pattern to satisfy customer requests. The Utility Worker will use case making equipment safely, maintain hot/cold glue tanks by keeping them full, and perform fiber tear checks to ensure proper glue application and pattern. They will notify the appropriate coworker, forklift driver, or assignee when supplies at the machine need to be replenished and communicate with the incoming shift or line replacement on any problems with quality, machine, and packing configurations. Assisting with rework and heldware to ensure effective completion, and restarting, starting, stopping, and clearing all downstream equipment as required are also key duties. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the training of the permanent and temporary workforce in stacking, packing quality, and case machines, and keeping the work area and other facilities clean, orderly, and safe. Completing written documentation as required and performing basic stretch wrapper functions may also be part of the role. Limited travel may be required.

Requirements

Responsibilities
