About The Position

Emerson has an exciting opportunity for a UTILITY WORKER (Powered Equipment Operator) based in Olive Branch, MS. This role is responsible for keeping the warehouse facility, production areas, grounds, and inventory areas clean, orderly, maintained, safe, and secure. The Utility Worker will assist the maintenance and custodial teams in performing tasks in the upkeep and repair of facilities and transporting products safely within the warehouse using motorized equipment such as reach lifts. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess mechanical and custodial aptitude. The shift is Mid Shift (Monday through Friday) from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, with a shift pay of $1.48.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6 months of related experience.
  • Distribution center experience.
  • Prior forklift certification with 6 months previous warehouse experience.
  • Previous shipping/material handling experience.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, lift, push and pull for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift product/cartons weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and see the task through safely.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.

Responsibilities

  • Moving supplies within the warehouse by means of motorized equipment, such as forklifts and reach lifts.
  • Transporting goods and empty gaylords containing cardboard, plastic, paper, etc., through the warehouse using a forklift.
  • Moving pallets and trash bins with supplies into and out of trucks.
  • Operating a baler, managing industrial waste streams, sorting recyclable materials, and operating machinery to prepare waste for disposal or recycling.
  • Performing basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment and operating a sweeper/scrubber.
  • Performing basic building maintenance tasks.
  • Adhering to all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Performing vital housekeeping duties to maintain a clean work environment.
  • Maintaining safe actions on and off equipment in compliance with all safety rules/regulations required by Emerson, federal, state, and local provisions.
  • Meeting department quality, attendance, and productivity requirements.
  • Working overtime as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by managerial staff within the warehouse or maintenance departments.
