Under supervision, perform labor in construction, maintenance, operations, and installation of Public Works and Public Utilities. This role involves serving as a laborer making sewer pipe taps, repairs, and installation of pipes and manholes. Responsibilities also include maintaining facilities, painting, mowing, laying brick, minor building construction, and performing minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and vehicles. The position requires using good judgment for safe work practices and proper equipment use, including wearing protective gear. The employee must be able to follow oral and written instructions, keep records, make reports, and communicate effectively with the public and other agencies, demonstrating a strong sense of customer service. Additional duties include counting parts, assisting with inventory, cleaning city facilities, collecting samples, repairing and posting signs, loading brush, working in trenches and confined spaces, and assisting in cleaning sludge drying beds. The role may involve other related duties as assigned.
