About The Position

The Utility Worker I in Environmental Services at St. Joseph Warren Hospital is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient areas, work areas, offices, and public areas. The role helps provide a safe and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following good cleaning practices, safety requirements, and sanitation regulations. On-the-job training is provided; no prior experience is required.

Requirements

• Able to write and understand written and oral communications.
• Engage professionally with staff and patients.
• Able to use housekeeping equipment.

Nice To Haves

• High school degree or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and perform additional cleaning functions.
• Transport trash, hazardous waste, soiled linen, and recyclable trash to appropriate disposal areas.
• Replenish supplies and materials in assigned areas and patient rooms.
• Inspect assigned areas to ensure they are properly cleaned and in good repair, and report any problems.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations.
• Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
