About The Position

This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining wastewater & water utility systems, asphalt street repairs, flagging traffic, and operating heavy equipment such as tandem axle dump trucks with trailers and asphalt rollers. The role requires in-person, onsite work and is not eligible for remote work. It is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) offering career progression and potential salary incentives based on performance, qualifications, and experience. The position is open until filled, with the first review beginning September 21, 2026.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collections/water/wastewater treatment facilities and equipment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a utility field
Ability to lift heavy objects
Ability to perform light maintenance on heavy equipment
Ability to work overtime as needed to include weekends and holidays
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "A"
Ability to obtain tanker endorsement within one year of employment
Current valid driver's license and good driving record
Driving record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months, based on the Virginia DMV point system
Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview
Driving records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date
