About The Position

Harborview Medical Center – Environmental Services Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Utility Worker 2. WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM May require the ability to work weekends and holidays DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Environmental Services (EVS) Department supports a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The team helps maintain hospital operations through supply management, equipment support, and responsive service to hospital units. Requirements

  • Physical strength to perform required work
  • One year of work experience that includes operation of power equipment such as tampers, jackhammers, trucks, or wheel tractors
  • Equivalent education and experience may substitute for required qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain stockroom cleanliness, organization, and safe workflows.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of Environmental Services (EVS) supplies, notifying designated staff when restocking is needed.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming supply deliveries, ensuring packing slips are reviewed and properly logged.
  • Organize and store supplies in designated stockroom locations in accordance with safety standards.
  • Transport and deliver supplies, equipment, and furniture to hospital units as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain EVS equipment, including dispensers, vacuums, buffers, wet vacs, carpet extractors, and ride-on floor machines.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on EVS equipment to ensure proper function and reduce downtime.
  • Tag and coordinate vendor repair for equipment that cannot be repaired in-house.
  • Respond to work orders submitted through a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Communicate with custodial teams and hospital departments regarding supply needs, equipment use, and repair timelines.
