About The Position

The Maintenance Technician ensures the safety, functionality, and reliability of all machinery and vehicles, contributing to the overall well-being of our clients with developmental, behavioral, and other disabilities by maintaining a safe and efficient operational environment. As a Utility Tradesman/Maintenance Technician, you will champion our integrity and environmental surroundings by providing customer service while exhibiting excellence through Campus Landscape and Environmental Management, Preventative Maintenance and Technical Repair, Collaboration, Client-Centered Environmental Adaptation, Resource Management, and Professional Responsibility.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and abilities in construction and building trades with the use of hand tools, electric / motorized hand tools, and light equipment.
  • Knowledge in grounds maintenance, including knowledge of horticultural practices, landscape design, and environmental management.
  • Technical skills in operating grounds and maintenance equipment, as well as performing structural and electrical repairs.
  • Effective listening skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills in a face-paced environment.
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, staff, and vendors.
  • Commitment to safety, dependability, and strong customer-centric approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and digital tools/platforms.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Kansas driver's license and a good driving record are required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old due to the potential hazards of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months’ experience in grounds and maintenance or related fields preferred (for Maintenance Technician I).
  • 5+ years of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field preferred (for Maintenance Technician II).
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and other mechanical systems in a healthcare environment (for Maintenance Technician II).
  • 10+ years of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field preferred (for Maintenance Technician III).
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and other mechanical systems in a healthcare environment (for Maintenance Technician III).

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain comprehensive landscape plans that support a therapeutic environment.
  • Ensure grounds are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing to enhance the overall client experience.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to resolve site-specific challenges to ensure a functional, safe, and accessible campus.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on interior and exterior facilities including windows, doors, ceilings, flooring and roofing.
  • Apply practices to sustain a healthy environment that supports the physical and emotional well-being of our clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations in maintaining campus grounds and facilities.
  • Regularly inspect for, identify, and address potential hazards to create a secure environment for clients and staff.
  • Complete technical and maintenance projects independently and as part of a team that align with Heartspring's mission.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Work closely with therapists and educators to modify and adapt the physical environment to meet the specific needs of our clients.
  • Develop and implement solutions that enhance the usability of campus spaces, ensuring they are accessible and supportive of therapeutic activities.
  • Maintain open communication with staff and clients regarding maintenance activities and their impact on the campus environment.
  • Build, perform maintenance and repair on devices and adaptive equipment to support client services meet adaptability and therapeutic needs.
  • Efficiently manage resources to maintain the campus grounds and facilities.
  • Promote sustainable practices that align with Heartspring's commitment to environmental stewardship and client care.
  • Be ready to handle unexpected situations that require immediate attention.
  • Adhere to code of conduct and company policies, review published communications, escalate concerns through chain of command, and ensure confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
