About The Position

Under supervision, this position performs maintenance to buildings, pumps, motors, fences and grounds. This position requires a working knowledge of water production and a good mechanical aptitude. Ensures the use of safety programs and safety equipment.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Shall have and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain and maintain a chemical applicators license from the Texas Department of Agriculture within one year of hire date.
  • Incumbent shall have a working telephone for after hours call back.
  • Knowledge of general grounds and building maintenance.
  • Ability to use basic shop hand tools and use of grounds keeping equipment including tractors and mowers, paint and paint supplies, special tools required for accomplishing work in the water related field or demonstrate the aptitude necessary to being trained in their use.
  • Basic knowledge of janitorial and painting skills.
  • Knowledge of safety equipment needed to perform job duties.
  • Ability to read and write English and communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to take measurements and do mathematical computation at high school level.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and other areas or projects that require the use of respiratory safety equipment such as paper masks, half mask respirators, hoods, full face respirators, positive air supplied masks and self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • Ability to drive/operate various types of equipment used in this industry.
  • Ability to properly tow a trailer.
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines& scanners
  • Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
  • Shall complete maintenance training courses as outlined by the Maintenance Foreman.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Maintenance Mechanic’s in daily operation of pump stations, overhead tanks, vaults and special projects.
  • Assists in the maintenance and repairs to pump stations, buildings, fences, transmission lines and overhead tanks.
  • Cuts grass, weeds, waters and beautifies the general area.
  • Cleans buildings and pump stations and vaults.
  • Paints buildings floors and pump motors, etc.
  • Occasionally acts as a lead man for a small crew and take responsibility of job completion.
  • Works overtime and responds to callbacks by phone as required by workload or emergencies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
