About The Position

The Utility Technician-DSAs promotes a safe working environment by adhering to all safety policies and procedures. This role involves verifying daily resin and colorant accuracy, completing scrap reports, managing regrind usage, setting up and calibrating blenders, evaluating colorant usage, calculating and mixing color standards, transporting and scanning materials, performing line clearances, cleaning material systems, defacing used gaylords, maintaining cleanliness around grinders and blenders, communicating regrind percentage changes to operators, checking and cleaning dust collection bags, cleaning vacuum pump filters, operating railcar unloading systems safely, identifying and disposing of material chunks, and performing other assigned duties by the supervisor. The position also requires communicating activities and upcoming changes to the on-coming shift.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe working environment and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Verify daily that all resins and colorants designated for each production line are accurate with the PIC sheet and document on the Production OEE form.
  • Complete daily Scrap report on computer detailing all resin, colorant usage, regrind and scrap generation.
  • Ensure regrind is being used on all lines maintaining proper levels at each machine (no more than 1 excess Gaylord by any machine).
  • Set up blenders, calibrate and change material formulas as necessary.
  • Evaluate Colorant usage and verify that colorant is not being overused – perform visual color checks on bottles.
  • Calculate usage and mix up color standards (LTD) per customer approved standards or target letdown ratio designated on PIC sheet.
  • Transport material and scan (regrind, colorants etc.) to and from the warehouse.
  • Perform line clearances on completed production lines, cleaning the entire material system.
  • Ensure all used gaylords being used on the production floor have been properly defaced of the original use signage stickers.
  • Keep areas around the grinders, blenders, day bins clean and free of regrind, dust etc.
  • Communicate with operators any changes of regrind percentages or accumulation of excess regrind.
  • Check cyclone dust collection bags on each line and empty and clean as necessary (should not exceed 20lbs of dust).
  • Clean vacuum pump filters daily.
  • Hook up and operate railcar unloading system following all proper procedures.
  • Ensure NO resin is spilled on the ground or around the railcar area, and immediate cleanup if it occurs.
  • Identify and weigh all material chunks per production line and dispose of in the proper location.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or acting supervisor, such as breaks, cleaning, rework, unloading resin into gaylords etc.
  • Communicate to on-coming shift activity on the production floor and any upcoming changes.
