Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Supervisor (Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Foreman)
About The Position
Supervises inmate crews responsible for the repair and operation of utility systems and equipment. Systems may include steam-producing boilers, condensate return systems, fire pumps, feedwater systems, and sewage filtering and monitoring systems. The position is responsible for distributing high-voltage electrical loads, including switchgear, transformers, and metering devices. Duties also include efficient operation and maintenance of institutional boilers, air-conditioning equipment, water, sewage, and electricity generation and distribution, and replacing or repairing steel piping, expansion joints, and hangers. Along with other correctional institution employees, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining institutional security. Correctional responsibilities take precedence over all other duties and are performed regularly and recurrently.
Requirements
- Meet the Barely Acceptable level on the Ability to supervise screen-out element.
- Meet the Barely Acceptable level on the Aptitude for work with prisoners screen-out element.
- Receive at least one half of the total possible points in the applicant assessment.
- Provide detailed resume information supporting assessment responses and demonstrating the relevant experience and skills to perform the duties.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Satisfactorily complete pre-employment screening, including an interview, urinalysis, physical, background investigation, NCIC screening, and credit check.
- Successfully complete the three-week Introduction to Correctional Techniques training course at Glynco, Georgia.
- Meet applicable Selective Service requirements.
