About The Position

The Utility Steward at Palm Bar plays an essential role in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining environment. This position is responsible for washing and putting away dishes, glassware, and silverware, ensuring that kitchen equipment and dining areas are kept spotless, and assisting with the breakdown and disposal of waste. The role also includes trash removal and cleaning of floors, walls, and equipment to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift for long periods of time.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a dishwashing or kitchen support role is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils to meet health and safety standards.
  • Properly store and organize clean dishes, glassware, and silverware in their designated areas.
  • Clean and sanitize the dishwashing area regularly, ensuring it remains tidy and functional.
  • Clean and maintain cooking equipment, including pots and pans, ensuring all items are thoroughly cleaned after each use.
  • Remove trash from the kitchen and dining areas and dispose of it in the proper receptacles.
  • Break down cardboard boxes and dispose of them in the appropriate recycling areas.
  • Ensure all waste is properly sorted and disposed of, including recyclable materials.
  • Clean floors, walls, and surfaces in the kitchen, dishwashing area, and back of house.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage areas and walk-in refrigerators or freezers.
  • Assist in deep cleaning tasks as scheduled or as directed by management.
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with cleaning pots, pans, and other items used during food preparation.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is kept clean, sanitized, and in good working condition.
  • Maintain the kitchen's cleanliness and orderliness during both AM and PM shifts.
  • During AM shifts (8 AM - 4 PM), ensure that the kitchen is ready for daily service, cleaning equipment and prep areas before the rush begins.
  • During PM shifts (3 PM - 11 PM), maintain dishwashing duties during service hours and ensure the kitchen is cleaned and prepped for closing.
