About The Position

This position supports the Production or Packaging portion of the Pet Food business. The role involves filling in for employees during breaks and absences while maintaining operational quality. The Utility Production EM will operate necessary equipment, record production data, ensure sanitation standards are met, and participate actively in team concepts and meetings. This role requires adherence to Simmons Operating Systems principles and objectives, understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems, and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. The position also involves performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives, with the understanding that the job description is a guide and not a limitation on creativity or required tasks.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Perform basic math.
Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license.
Must be able to read, write and understand English.
Background in manufacturing.
Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
A highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.

Responsibilities

Fills in for employees during breaks and any type of absence while maintaining the continuing quality of the plant operation.
Fully operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
Record downtime, can loss, lot #’s, record temperature, and any other report documentation.
Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard.
Performs weekly sanitation.
Participates as a member of the Team.
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
