About The Position

This position is responsible for performing various tasks within the utility department, requiring the ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating procedures, write routine reports, and communicate effectively. The role involves mathematical skills for calculations and problem-solving abilities to handle practical situations with limited standardization. The job also requires specific physical capabilities and exposure to a work environment with moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak English one-on-one and before small groups.
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms: and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to twist, pull and bend; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
