Responsibilities

  • Perform repetitive assembly operations on machined parts and castings where fits are of some importance or assemble standard products consisting of a range of parts which require fitting to assemble.
  • Use hand and power equipment to perform assembly and testing operations; exercise care in their use.
  • Operate material handling equipment when necessary.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Operate in narrow lanes in transferring materials; using elevating mechanisms with tiered containers.
  • Perform a variety of operations incidental to assembly, including but not limited to visual inspection, use of measuring devices, proper finish, pick up and pack parts and assemblies for orders – including carrier orders.
  • Perform other miscellaneous work assigned including work with other assemblers.
  • Follow safety regulations; exercise care in operating and in the use of elevating mechanisms to prevent injury to self or other employees, or damage to stored materials or other equipment.
  • Receive and unload all incoming materials if required.
  • Attach packing lists, label, or stencil parcels or skids as required.
  • Verify and identify part numbers and counts on incoming material from vendors, such as Sage, Falconer Switch, Lincoln, etc.
  • Break down skids and re-palletize as necessary for proper storage of material.
  • Load and unload outgoing finished product as required (e.g. trucks).
  • Responsible for correct identification of material being shipped and correct identification of all material pulled and put away to include, but not limited to identifying permanent storage for all product and items in H & I (E/F) and purchased stores.
  • Check with traffic department to ascertain which truck to load and weight capacity.
  • Responsible for checking quantities and weights in loading trucks, position shipments according to allowable axle weights, block load, if needed, to prevent shifting.
  • Perform warehouse/ shipping/ packing, weighing, wrapping, staging product for shipment to same locations (e.g. warehouse, or same LTL truck) together on a daily basis as required.
  • Organize; consolidate correct packaging and packing, skidding of material to order requirements.
  • Perform any and all pertinent functions required to assure customer receipt of packaged material in sound satisfactory condition.
  • Verify LTL shipments using BOL to check packages/skids for proper address, weights, and order number to ensure correct material is shipped.
  • Identify skids with proper shipping information from BOL to assist with shipping skids.
  • Responsible for checking the quantities against shipping orders.
  • Record weights, number and types of containers on bills of lading and shippers copies.
  • Fill out export orders.
  • Be responsible for the accuracy and completion of orders.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as related to routine shipping, including to mark, stencil, tag and label skids as required, proper processing of domestic, export (crating and marking as necessary), Parcel Post, UPS, COD papers and other papers when necessary.
  • Pick up and pack assemblies for warehouse as required.
  • Identify, count, record, and pack as required in conjunction with established shipping and packing department practices, utilizing standard packing appliances and / or equipment.
  • Move materials as needed in and out of storage barn.
  • Communicate with storekeeper on temporary storage.
  • Place temporarily stored materials for most effective use of space and access.
  • Consolidate same product to one skid to allow for free space daily as needed in throughout the warehouse.
  • Responsible for the correct identification, count, check and storage of all incoming and outgoing parts and material and for the proper processing of all paperwork pertaining to storeroom (promptly supplying proper information via tags or other means to stores / floor expeditor for material entering or leaving aisles H & I (E&F).
  • Knowledge of receiving clerk’s job to assist/fill in when absent/vacation.
  • Check condition of material, identifying items, palletize, if required, verify quantities and check against bills of lading or packing lists.
  • Write up receiving reports as required.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as related to receiving functions.
  • Attach Kanban cards to received material.
  • Requisition, store and withdrawal from designated storage all purchased or manufactured materials or parts to include but not limited to Storeroom material, shipping and packaging supplies and material necessary to keep carrier carton lines operational as well as Shipping / Customer Pack and Warehouse Pack out and other departments to maintain them in operational status.
  • Transport material as necessary.
  • Assist in correct taking and maintaining of inventory.
  • Perform other miscellaneous stores work.
  • This includes, but not limited to assisting other stock selectors, instructing and assisting packers on how to designate locations, packing and skidding methods, stencil, etc.
  • Receive and pull all shipping orders (SH’s), machine tabs, OSP, orders for parts in H&I (E&F) to include purchased stores items and storeroom parts.
  • Check all orders and report to the proper people of errors/problems associated with orders.
  • 5/s Cleanliness: Clean work area at the end of each shift to ensure it’s clean, safe and orderly.
  • Perform daily various cleaning and housekeeping jobs to keep the general plant clean and orderly to include but not limited to dumping trash receptacles as needed daily as needed, Pick up and break down cardboard and dispose of properly daily as required sweep (to include the floor sweeper machine), mop floors wash and remove waste from lavatories and rest rooms.
  • Keep washing facilities in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition.
  • Replenish service supplies as needed.
  • Maintain service supplies of soap, paper towels, and other cleaning materials.
  • Safety: Maintain sound safety practices and follow all safety regulations per company policy and safety manual at all times.
  • Notify supervision if any unsafe conditions exist.
  • Use all required PPE, guarding, and inspect area for cleanliness and safe operation.
  • No food is allowed in work area.
  • Continuous Improvement: Complete all 5S requirements, Maintain Lean Daily Management Tools, including metrics, charts, graphs, sheets and boards, as needed for sound production efficiencies.
