This position is responsible for assisting Leads in setting up lines and filling in for various positions as assigned by the Supervisor. The Utility Person must have knowledge of the Depal Machine operation, be able to operate a forklift and an electric pallet jack, and function in a laborer capacity for ingredient and container handling. This role also involves performing the duties of a Closing Machine Operator, preparing brines as a Sauce Cook, preparing concentrate, understanding bean soaking procedures, and operating at least one processing vessel. The position requires heavy lifting and immediate reporting of any mechanical and/or safety issues to the Supervisor and/or Leadperson. The Utility Person must maintain a clean work area, adhere to good housekeeping practices, and follow common safety practices and procedures, including wearing protective equipment and clothing. Additionally, adherence to the Company’s plant hygiene standards is crucial for high product integrity. The role includes responsibility for executing food safety, legality, and quality policies and procedures, such as GMP’s, HACCP, safety, product quality, food security, and plant security. Other duties may be assigned by the Supervisor and/or Leadperson.
